If Pe. was an elective for schools, then for those kids that don't want to do PE only have to do it for one semester. So this way they still get the excersize they need that year. And for those that do want to do Pe can retake it or become an Aid. An aid is someone who is like the teachers helper. They help but basketballs away, help with the students ect. This way they don't have the hassle of getting dressed or being late for class all year.
Another thing that would help is an after school program of PE. This way its on your own time, and you wont have to worry about rushing so your not late for class, or anything related to that. This way if parents want their kids to be more athletic they can just sign their child up for the after school program. And all the kids that have the desire to do PE can sign up and have their free time of excersizing.
Or maybe even play activities with the kids that they like. For example, tag, baseball, football etc. Have the class choose so its fair on what was chosen to play. Although one game I highly recommend that you do not play is Dodge ball. Dodge ball is a very dangerous game. some one can get hurt easily. This game also conducts violence. Some PE teachers think its a game that gets the children going. You cant stay in one spot and its enjoyable. Well, what about all those kids that get hit? Imagine how left out or hurt they feel. Like what if you choose teams and this girl is on the same team as her friends and theres a girl on the other team that they dislike. So they start playing and the girl and her friends decide to team up on her to hurt her or are looking for the perfect moment to just deck her in the face with the ball.
In conclusion, PE should be aloud at schools because its good exercise for those that don't play at home. If not as a regular class then an elective or after school program. Just as long as any kind of moving activity is involved during school. Activities wise, team games are acceptable except dodge ball. Dodge ball is a game of violence and injury. Therefore it should not be aloud.

Solid post. Lots of common sense here.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your blog. We should have P.E. for many reasons. We all need physical Education in our lives even if we feel we don't need it.
